Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate or Skoura Palm Grove

Begin your desert adventure with a morning pick-up from your Marrakech accommodation at 7:00 AM. Cross the High Atlas Mountains through the dramatic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, pausing at panoramic viewpoints to capture the scenery.

Arrive at the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location for many famous movies. Climb to the top of the fortified village for stunning views before continuing to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert.”

Depending on timing, you may also visit the Skoura Palmary, an oasis of ancient kasbahs and lush date palms. Dinner and overnight at a 5-star traditional kasbah hotel in Ouarzazate.

After breakfast, drive along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, stopping in Skoura Palm Grove to admire the Amerhidil Kasbah. Continue to Kelaat Mgouna, the “Valley of Roses,” where locals produce rose oils and cosmetics celebrated each May during the Rose Festival.

Pass through Boumalne Dades and Tineghir, famous for its palm oasis and historic Jewish quarter, before reaching the impressive Todra Gorges — towering canyon walls rising 300 meters high.

After lunch, journey toward Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Mount your camel for a sunset trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes, arriving at your luxury desert camp as night falls. Enjoy dinner, traditional Berber drumming, and a peaceful night beneath a blanket of stars.

Wake early to witness a magnificent Sahara sunrise. After breakfast in the bivouac, ride your camel or take a 4×4 transfer back to the meeting point. Depart toward Fes, passing through the picturesque Ziz Valley, Errachidia, and Midelt.

Stop in Azrou to stroll through the famous Cedar Forest, home to playful Barbary macaques, then continue through Ifrane, often called “Little Switzerland” for its alpine charm.

Arrive in Fes by evening, marking the end of your unforgettable desert journey.
