Itinerary

Day 1: Fes – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi

Your adventure begins at 8:00 AM, when your English-speaking driver picks you up from your hotel in Fes. We’ll drive south through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and Azrou, where you can walk among the cedar trees and observe the Barbary macaques.

Continue to Midelt for lunch before admiring the breathtaking Ziz Valley, a lush oasis framed by palm trees and desert cliffs. By afternoon, you’ll reach Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara.

Prepare for a memorable camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes as the sun sets over the desert. Arrive at your luxury camp, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, live Berber music, and a peaceful night beneath the stars.

Wake early to witness a spectacular sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at camp. Afterward, return by camel to Merzouga and take a quick shower at the hotel before setting out toward Rissani, an ancient Saharan trading post. Visit its lively market (if open) and explore the town’s fossil workshops.

Continue toward Erfoud, known as the “Gateway to the Sahara,” before reaching the majestic Todra Gorges, where towering cliffs rise dramatically around the Todra River. Take a leisurely walk through the canyon, then enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel.

After breakfast, we’ll drive along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing through the Dades Valley. Take an off-road trail into the mountains to discover authentic Berber villages, where you can share a mint tea with local nomadic families and learn about their traditional lifestyle.

Later, journey through the Rose Valley and arrive in Skoura Oasis, famous for its lush palm groves and ancient kasbahs. In the evening, continue to Ouarzazate for dinner and a restful overnight stay.

After breakfast, visit the Atlas Film Studios and Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate before heading to Ait Benhaddou, a spectacular UNESCO-listed ksar that has been featured in over 20 famous films, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Explore its labyrinth of earthen buildings and admire the architecture.

After lunch, we’ll cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, with scenic stops for photos and relaxation. Arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon, where your driver will drop you off safely at your hotel or riad, marking the end of your 4-day desert journey.
